ARTS
In an attempt to elevate our show to the next level we are adding a
limited number of talented artists from other venues. We are pleased
to introduce to you these creative people.
Our Artist/Naturalist is Wayne J. Chunat.  Wayne is a completely self-taught
artist except for a few college-level art classes and some select workshops,
The subjects of his paintings include all species of flora, fauna, landscapes
and occasionally historic structures  He is a retired parks and recreational
professional and a graduate of Kent State University, earning a BA in Biology
and Zoology, who is now pursuing his interests in wildlife art.
Home
Jim Eliopulos  Master Turner
I was always fooling around with wood and after retirement from the
university I began seriously turning walnut, beech, cherry and other hard
woods. I had developed an all-consuming passion for turned cherry, walnut,
hickory, elm, and maple as well as exotic woods such as mesquite,
eucalyptus, carob and red mallee.  Each bowl is turned green, allowed to dry
for 2-3 years and finally sanded to a silken finish. A final application of
mineral oil and beeswax is applied to insure a food-safe finish, The evolution
of each piece is like a birth process. The forms of the natural world have
become a source of inspiration for the forms I create. The range of design is
limited only by imagination.
Carol Rubel    Woodcarver
Carol started carving in 1987 after she moved to Guernsey County, Ohio. She
has a studio in her home. Her main carvings are of birds and wildlife animals.
Her carvings have been shown in Toledo, Cambridge, Roscoe Village,
Saunders Village.  Her favorite wood is butternut left in its natural state.  Carol
is a member of Blackswamp Woodcarvers and the National Woodcarvers
Association.
Waymond Rubel    Blacksmith
Waymond’s father had a large welding shop and blacksmith shop when
Waymond was a young boy.  Waymond was always interested in the art and
finally got serious about it 25 years ago.  He forges ornamental wrought iron
items such as fireplace sets, lamps, tables, and door knockers.  He is a
member of Southern Ohio Forge and Anvil Blacksmith Association and has
won many awards for his  artistic work.

this year.
